The program, administered by Helper Helper, celebrates youth, young adults, and adults  who complete impactful volunteer service within a 12-month period or over a lifetime.

Mr. Jerry Kerr was honored with the award by El Rancho de Las Golondrinas. He volunteers almost every week as a  tour guide and he is on the A-List/ “Varsity Team” of wonderful incredibly dedicated volunteers at El Rancho de Las Golondrinas.

El Ranch de Las Golondrinas’ Use of Helper Helper

El Rancho de Las Golondrinas, a historic ranch and living history museum in New Mexico, has been preserving the cultural traditions and heritage of the region for generations. Guided by its mission “to preserve the legacy of the land and the cultural traditions of New Mexico,” the organization provides visitors with immersive experiences that bring local history to life. Volunteers play a central role in this work. They serve as tour guides, museum interpreters, and event contributors for its many seasonal fairs and educational programs.

In 2024, El Rancho de Las Golondrinas partnered with Helper Helper to streamline and enhance volunteer coordination. With dozens of volunteers contributing across different types of events and responsibilities, the organization needed a system that could simplify scheduling, communication, and tracking. Through Helper Helper, volunteers are now organized into teams based on their interests, backgrounds, and skills—whether they specialize in interpretive education, guiding historic tours, or supporting large community festivals.

Once registered in the system, volunteers receive a centralized view of upcoming opportunities they can sign up for directly through Helper Helper, making participation easier and more accessible. On the administrative side, El Rancho de Las Golondrinas can now view detailed reporting on volunteer involvement, hours, and impact, helping their team demonstrate the strength and value of the volunteer community that supports and sustains their mission year after year.

Helper Helper encourages others to give back and consider applying for the National Service Honor. Individuals and organizations across the U.S. can learn more or apply for recognition at www.nationalservicehonor.com
